They need to put in a diving board and slide for the baptismal pool. Maybe a few beach recliners around the side.

california = liberal paradise: democrat heaven
You do realize that many counties in California are quite conservative, don't you?
Demonizing an entire state makes your argument look silly and unreasonable.

Hey......Obama is a Marxist and a Socialist. That is the polite term for a communist.
I've heard people call Obama and fellow Democrats communists, but don't quite understand why.
Can you please provide a few examples of exactly how Obama is a communist?
They want to do away with the constitution that was the backbone of our country and make us a slave community.
Slaves to what?

Fox has practically no credibility and they only have themselves to blame for it. They've become the National Enquirer of cable news.
Fair and Balanced? How stupid do they think their audience is?

It looks like the Watchtower changed the content of this article in the last day or two. It originally claimed that they didn't shun anyone.
If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible's moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped.
The sentence above has now been added to the article. I wonder if they were getting a lot of traffic to that part of their website?

The woman interviewed seemed like a loving and caring daughter.
It's absolutely frightening what the Watchtower does to human beings.
This video should be put alongside the article on jw.org that states that JWs don't shun former members. What a twisted, hypocritical Cult.
http://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/shunning/
Do You Shun Former Members of Your Religion?
Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.

"Can't you find something positive to talk about!?!"
He just gave you an excellent opportunity. You should find news stories about great, positive actions committed by "worldly" people. Tell him how national news presents a distorted view of reality for the sake of ratings. National news outlets consider rapes and murders newsworthy, yet very rarely report on the acts of kindness people perform. Explain to him how focusing on negative things in this world and perpetually seeing the cup half empty is not a healthy view to have.
Then you can explain how the Watchtower commits this same type of fear mongering. He brought up the depression issue, ask him why it seems to be such a problem in the congregations. How many JWs does he know on anti-depressants? The Watchtower message has been always been one of doom and gloom, with the carrot on the stick of a future paradise dangled in front of JWs. They can't help but be affected by all the negativity the Watchtower exposes them to.

I like the idea of starting with the blood issue- it's not so confrontational since its just a "what if.". It really shocked me to find out that if you allow all the fractions that are now considered a "conscience matter" that basically equals whole blood when combined. Do they think we are stupid?
The best strategy is to deal with one issue at a time. Don't confront either, merely ask questions. You want to claim that these questions came from a householder or coworker, that way you don't immediately get shut down as someone that's questioning the authority of the eight imperfect men on the glorified elder body in Brooklyn. Then you ask for his help, claiming that as you researched the topic you've gotten more confused about the issue.
Here's a tough question, claim that a householder with a fair amount of Bible knowledge asked you if the JW leaders, the Governing Body, are bloodguilty for the past deaths of people, including children, that refused transfusions of blood fractions that are now evidently acceptable to Jehovah. Ask him his opinion on "blood guilt". Have him explain what it means to you.
"United in Worship of the Only True God, 1983, p. 155
The Scriptures show that if we are part of any organization that is bloodguilty before God, we must sever our ties with it if we do not want to share in its sins. (Rev. 18;4, 24: Mic. 4:3)"
Or ask him why Jehovah would feel that injecting blood fractions from "worldly" people into your body is acceptable, but donating your own blood before surgery, and then putting your own blood fractions back into your body is a disfellowshipping offense. Where is the logic behind that Watchtower rule? Would Jehovah really feel that it's wrong to use our own blood to sustain our lives?
Keep in mind that certain issues might not resonate the same with all Witnesses. For example I've seen several Witnesses truly bothered with the Watchtower's specific rules on shunning, yet other JWs coldly accept it and don't appear to be troubled at all. But those same Witnesses that are able to stop having natural affection for family members might be bothered when they realize that according to the Watchtower, Jesus Christ is not their Mediator. Or they might be bothered by the many changing "truths" on the generation of Matthew 24:34.
I'd recommend JWFACTS.COM, if you haven't already been there. The book "Combating Cult Mind Control" by Steve Hassan is also a great resource for anyone that's been in a high-control religious group in which the leaders claim divine authority. I realize that the book's title is provocative, but don't let that turn you off. It contains a ton of valuable information, just don't let any JWs see you reading it.

by RayPublisher ini had the pleasure of conducting a telephone interview with "truth be told" filmmaker gregorio smith yesterday.

I think only Christians will be saved through Armageddon. Everybody not a Christian will be put to death. Jehovah puts the child under the responsibilty of the parent. According to what I have been taught by the JW's, all those who did not hear about Jehovah will be given an opportunity to worship God during the 1000 year reign of Jesus. This would include children.
Let us not be coy. When you say Christians, what exactly do you mean? Did you forget to put the "true" part?
So do you believe that children are punished for the sins of the father?
When you said that you've been studying with Jehovah's Witnesses for two years, that was less than forthcoming, wasn't it.
Your understanding of what will occur at Armageddon isn't exactly in line with current truth, as taught by the Governing Body. The Watchtower teaches that non-witness children will be murdered at Armageddon and will not be resurrected and given an opportunity to worship Jehovah. But, I realize you didn't really address my question directly, did you. Perhaps we can be a little more direct with each other in the future though. Do you believe that the babies and children of non-Jehovahs Witness parents will be murdered at Armageddon?
